All you need to know ahead of Monday night's Professional Development League Clash against the Railwaymen...

Fixture: Hull City U23s vs Crewe Alexandra U23s
Where: Eon Visual Media Stadium
When: Monday 8th January 2017
Kick-Off: 7pm

Jon Beale's side are in action for the first time in 2018 this evening as they host Crewe Alexandra looking to end a run of four successive defeats.

Since beating Sheffield United 3-0 away in mid November, the Tigers slipped to losses against Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Sunderland (Premier League Cup) and Nottingham Forest, whilst their previous league outing away at Burnley before Christmas was postponed due to fog, which has seen them slip to sixth in the Professional Development League North table.

Crewe, meanwhile, head to East Yorkshire looking to bounce back from an indifferent run of form which has seen them suffer four defeats in the last seven outings, including a 1-0 loss at home to Huddersfield last time out.

The first meeting between the two sides this season back in October saw the Tigers come out on top with a 3-1 win at Gresty Road. The hosts held a 1-0 half-time lead through Lewis Reilly, but two strikes in quick succession after the break from Jon Toral and Greg Olley put the Tigers ahead before substitute Greg Luer completed the scoring.

This evening's Professional Development League fixture will take place at North Ferriby United's Eon Visual Media Stadium and will kick-off at 7pm. Match updates will be available via Twitter by following @Tigers_Academy, while a match report will be available on both and

Last Time Out: Crewe Alexandra 0 Huddersfield Town 1
Crewe Alexandra ended 2017 with a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town in a tightly fought encounter at Reaseheath.

The home side started the game the brighter side, consistently probing the Huddersfield box, with the best chance falling to Charlie Kirk on 19 minutes. Lewis Reilly sprayed the ball out to the left flank for Kirk to cut inside & thrash a shot wide of the near post.

Huddersfield hadn’t been near the Alex goal, but in the 21st minute, a slip in defence allowed Lewis O’Brien a free run on goal, and he kept his cool to slot past a helpless Dave Richards top open the scoring.

The visitors almost extending their lead on two occasions before the break. First, Rekeil Pyke got in behind on 32 minutes, but a combination of Richards and Billy Sass-Davies caused the striker to miss his shot before Richards was at full stretch to tip O’Brien’s deflected low shot around the post.

The Alex got hold of the ball more in the second half in an attempt to mount a comeback, Josh Lundstram arrowing a shot narrowly wide on 52 minutes.

Pressure continued to fall on the Huddersfield goal with countless balls into the box & probing passages of play, but the visitors defended stoutly throughout to frustrate The Alex and hold on for the win.

Crewe: Richards, Offord, Owens, Sass-Davies, Walker, Lundstram, Grant (Lynch), Griffiths, Hurst (Harrison), Kirk, Reilly.
