- Keane Lewis-Potter (2), Josh Thacker, Ahmed Salam
- Ipswich Town 0
The Under-18s maintained their unbeaten start to the U18 Professional Development League campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Ipswich Town at Bishop Burton College on Saturday.
Both sides created early chances as Charlie Andrew was called upon to keep out Dylan Crowe’s effort from inside the box Ahmed Salam fired over from a free-kick after Mason Wilson-Rhiney had been blocked off by an Ipswich defender just outside the box.
Andrew was involved in the thick of the action once again when he produced a superb double save - first denying Jack Lankester before also keeping out Brett McGavin’s follow-up effort.
After a blistering start to the game, it was the Tigers who opened the scoring on 16 minutes. Charlie Dunkerley saw his route into the visitors’ box blocked off, but the bak fell favourably for Keane Lewis-Potter, who took a touch before firing a low strike last Nick Hayes.
And John Anderson’s could have gone into the break with a bigger advantage as Wilson-Rhiney, Dunkerley and Salam all came close to finding the back of the net.
The second goal did eventually come though with Lewis-Potter grabbing his second goal of the game on the hour mark. Salam’s pinpoint cross from the right picked out the number 10 inside the box, who lost his marker inside the box to head home past Hayes.
It was 3-0 four minutes from time when Josh Thacker arrived in the box to fire home from Dan Hawkins’ pull-back before Salam completed the scoring in stoppage time with a superb finish at the back back post from Billy Chadwick’s free-kick.
