Young Tigers Progress To Cup Final

Young Tigers Progress To Cup Final

A mixed Under-18s/Under-23s side booked their place in the final of the East Riding FA Senior Cup with a convincing 4-0 victory over Beverley Town on Tuesday night.

Jon Beale's side dominated the first half but had to wait until ten minutes before the interval to make the breakthrough. Neat play down the left flank saw the ball come to Greg Olley inside the box and the midfielder showed great composure to produce a fine finish with a low strike into the bottom corner.

Tom Powell was denied by the foot of the post 12 minutes into the second half before Liam Edwards, Olley and Matty Jacob all went close to doubling the lead.

The Tigers survived a scare when Will Mannion spilt the ball in a congested penalty area, but Jacob Greaves reacted brilliantly to clear the danger before a Beverley Town man could direct the ball towards an empty goal.

And City made sure of their place in the final with three goals in the last ten minutes. Olley's second of the evening made it 2-0 on 84 minutes before Billy Chadwick added a third with a fine individual strike.

Skipper Robbie McKenzie completed the scoring to make it 4-0 in stoppage-time, finding the back of the net with a thumping finish from inside the box.
