U23s Result: Crewe 1 The Tigers 3
Three second half goals saw the Under-23s come from behind to record a 3-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road on Monday afternoon.
With the international break in full-swing, the Tigers named a strong side with seven first-team players named in the starting line-up, including the fit-again Kevin Stewart.
However, it was the hosts who opened the scoring on 19 minutes when Charlie Kirk’s pinpoint pass released Lewis Reilly, and the striker produced a fine finish to find the top corner.
After a somewhat lacklustre first half display, the Tigers were a different proposition after the break and levelled the scores when Jon Toral swept home from Brandon Fleming’s pull-back on 52 minutes.
And it was 2-1 to the Tigers just three minutes later. Hesitancy in the home defence allowed Toral to pounce, and the Spaniard laid the perfect ball across the face of goal from Greg Olley to tap home.
Substitute Greg Luer completed the scoring 11 minutes from time, producing a tidy close-range finish from Tyler Hamilton’s cross.
