Next Season's U9s Sign On

Next Season's U9s Sign On

The latest batch of exciting, young footballing talents in the area put pen-to-paper at the KCOM Stadium on Tuesday night as next season's Under-9s signed their first schoolboy terms with the Club.

The youngsters, along with their parents and relatives, were invited to the KCOM for an induction evening, where they were given a presentation by Academy Manager Jon Beale, Head of Academy Sport Science Jamie Goldsmith and Academy Coach Daniel O'Keeffe in the 1904 Lounge.

Afterwards, the boys were taken pitchside, posing for photos and taking in the surroundings where they will one day hope to make their debut, before heading to the home dressing room to be presented with their very own Tigers' home shirt, freshly printed with their surname.

Our future Under-9s then headed back to their families in the 1904 Lounge to officially sign for the Academy in front of the cameras. The young lads’ contracts will see them work under the tutelage of Academy coaches next season as they look to improve their skills and progress to the next level of their young careers.

Speaking after the event, Academy Manager Beale said: "It was a great evening and a little introduction to what Academy football is all about.

"We think it's important to celebrate the young lads signing their very first contract with a professional football club. Hopefully, it will be the first of many for them all ahead of what will be a successful career in the game.

"To see so many smiles on the lads' faces, especially when they were presented with their shirts, made all the work done in planning the event worthwhile.

"Myself and the rest of the staff are looking forward to working with the boys. However, it's important to remember that at the end of the day they are all little boys who are good at football. We just hope we can help each and every one them to improve but, more importantly, make sure they enjoy their time with us."
