Beale: U23s Need To Maintain Performance Levels

Jon Beale has challenged his side to maintain their performance levels as they go in search of a third successive win against Burnley this evening (KO 7pm).

Back-to-back wins over Cardiff City and Coventry City in their last two outings have seen the Tigers put a disappointing start to their Professional Development League season - which saw them register just point from first four games - firmly behind them and Beale is keen to see his Development Squad kick on even further when they host the Clarets at North Ferriby United’s Eon Visual Media Stadium.

“It’s nice to be back winning games,” he said. “But one thing I have to say is that our performances haven’t been disappointing in any shape or form, apart from our opening day defeat away at QPR.

“That is the only game I can look back and say I wasn’t happy with the performance, so it’s nice to see that the results are now starting to come with our performances.

“The lads were delighted to get their first win of the season away at Cardiff - you could see that clearly after the game. To get our first win of the season that night was a big thing for us.

“Cardiff were a decent side and gave us a tough match, but we negotiated the challenge well.

“To build on that with another three points at home to Coventry last time out was great and although that win should have been more convincing, it was good to get back-to-back wins.

“What we’ve now got to do is build on our last two games. We’ve got to build on the wins, build on the performances and look to string together a decent run of results.

“Hopefully we can kick on now and make it three wins from three against Burnley this evening.”
