Beale: Build On Crewe Win
Jon Beale has challenged his Under-23 side to build on Monday night's 5-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra when they face Leeds United this afternoon.
Goals from Ben Hinchliffe and Will Keane, along with a Greg Luer hat-trick, saw the Tigers end a disappointing run of four straight defeats in all competitions in impressive fashion and Beale now wants his side to follow that up against their Yorkshire rivals.
Speaking ahead of the trip to United's Thorp Arch Training Ground, the Tigers' Academy Manager said: "We've got a busy month in January with the number of games we've got coming up - and it's the same next month as well - but that's what it's all about.
"We want to play games and the lads have to get used to playing two or three games in the space of a week because that's what it's like in first-team football week in, week out.
"We're playing Monday-Thursday-Sunday this week, so it will be tough on them but as I say, it's something they have become accustomed to. We've looked after the lads since Monday night's game and our preparations for Leeds have been good.
"Having ended our disappointing run of form against Crewe, we have to look to build on the win and string together a positive run of results.
"But it's the old cliché of taking things one game at a time and since Monday night's game, our only focus has been on Leeds. It will be tough for the lads, but everyone is determined to go there and get a positive result."
